GLOSSARY TERM
Wrinkling
The formation of wrinkles in the paint film due to improper application or drying conditions.
INFO
What it is
Wrinkling is a defect where the paint surface forms wrinkles or ridges as it dries, leaving an uneven, crinkled texture instead of a smooth film.
Why it matters
Wrinkling spoils both the appearance and the integrity of a finish. It usually means the surface skinned over before the paint beneath could dry, and the affected area normally has to be reworked.
Where it is used on a project
Often caused by coats that are too thick, drying in strong heat, or recoating too soon. Correct application and conditions prevent it.
How NECC approaches it
We apply coatings at the correct thickness and allow proper drying between coats, avoiding the thick films and poor conditions that cause wrinkling.
