GLOSSARY TERM
Compressed Air
Air that is pressurised to power tools and equipment, including paint sprayers.
INFO
What it is
Compressed air is air held under pressure to power tools and equipment. In spraying, it is used to atomise paint in conventional and HVLP spray guns and to drive other site tools.
Why it matters
The supply needs to be clean, dry, and at the right pressure. Moisture or oil carried in the air can blemish a finish, and incorrect pressure affects how well the paint atomises.
Where it is used on a project
Used wherever air-fed spray equipment is in play, alongside airless systems which work differently. The choice depends on the coating and the finish required.
How NECC approaches it
We maintain our equipment and air supply so spraying is clean and consistent, matching the right system and settings to each coating for a reliable finish.

FAQ's
Which sprayers use compressed air?
Conventional and HVLP spray guns use compressed air to atomise paint. Airless systems use high fluid pressure instead.
Does air quality affect the finish?
Yes. Moisture or oil in the air line can contaminate the finish, so clean, dry, filtered air is important for a quality result.
